One down, Three to go!

First things first, I FINISHED FIRST SEMESTER OF NURSING SCHOOL. I'M SO HAPPY!!

Ok I'm glad I got that out. It has been a little over a week now.

Here is my hospital group that I seriously love (minus the instructors that I also loved!):
Uniforms and no makeup....so flattering...

On our last day of clinical we had a half day and went out to lunch afterwards. Everyone decided that they want to go to CPK since it was nearby and is obviously delicious. It was so fun!
Here is the group that I usually hang out with at school.
After our final, we went to BJs to celebrate!
I'm going to miss them over the break!

We got together tonight and had dinner at Yard House (for some reason I can't get over that name, it's just a weird restaurant name). Looking forward to a whole month off and then coming back to these faces :)

For Brissa

Sometimes you say "teach me"
and I'm not sure what you mean

Teach you how to be a copycat from pinterest?

Well, here you go:

How to make a glitter animal head:
Supplies:
glue
glitter
pretty paper
small paintbrush
scissors
an outline of an animal you want to glitterize  (deer are so hot right now)

Steps:
  1. cut out said animal
  2. outline onto pretty paper
  3. use paintbrush to apply glue within animal outline
  4. cover with glitter!!!
  5. wait approximately 10 minutes (or until glue is dry)
  6. shake off excess glitter
  7. if needed, use a toothpick to remove glitter that is out of the lines
and wallah! you have your DIY glitter animal just in time for fall.

Sometimes I feel as if I'm wearing friend repellant

I decided to remove this post, because I don't want anyone to think that I am talking negatively about someone else on the Internets for all to see (which was not my intention, nor did I get a complaint about it, but I would never want it to get back to her in some way and for her to think it was meant to bash her, more to express that sometimes I feel socially inadequate)

But I still want to leave this [because I love gifs and just recently watched Easy A, and this is easily the best part of the movie]

ooh burn

Dean said we can't celebrate because its an "anniversary," so it only happens
once a year. I told him we are celbrating our Bi anniversary now where's my present*?
I decided to cook some BBQ for dinner
and Nicole and Jackie came over to visit.
Hooray!

*we did not actually exchange presents

I Can't Even Watch This

I still can't believe it's over, but Harry Potter will always live in my heart.

I'm Usually Very Punctual

Recently, a friend brought up the fact that when I finish the nursing program, I will have been graduated from High School for 7 years, and only have an Associates Degree.

Thanks for pointing that out. I feel really good about myself now.

Haha but really, it is something I think about a lot.  I go back and forth between disappointment and encouragement.

Disappointment because I never imagined myself having this kind of school experience. I thought I would be a 4 year graduate. I never had much respect for super seniors. Well, here I am.

Encouragement because (I keep telling myself) it doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as I finished what I started. (I keep telling myself) Things happen for a reason, I was led this way to learn something, or to go on a path I wouldn't have forged myself. (I keep telling myself) Things will work out in the end, as they always do, whether my way or God's way.

I'm  trying not to be upset with myself or anyone else for how things have worked out.

On a slightly more positive not, I have been thoroughly enjoying school. Even though it's a lot to keep up with, at the end of the day, when I'm walking to my car after class, it is so satisfying. I don't know if I will be saying the same thing after 2 years of this, but for the first few weeks, that is how I have felt. I am finally doing it. It's going to be a long road, but it will go by quickly, as have the last 2 years, and even the last 5 years! Next thing I know I will be blogging about the first days of my new job! It is really exciting.

Hair

I got my hair done again. It's slightly ombre, which I was unsure about doing a second time, but I LOVE it. Dean was playing around with the camera and so I thought I should share a picture that shows the color

For reference, here's my hair before:

Bridesmaid Dresses

I don't know if this is a new bridesmaid dress on their website, but I just recently found it.

It reminded me of my own bridesmaid's dresses that I got at H&M for a lot cheaper!

(Obviously mine were much darker)

It is oddly satisfying. Sometimes I wonder why anyone buys clothing from jcrew, because I always see duplicates at other places. But if I had the money I probably would shop there still.

The Perseids

Sounds fancy, right?

Where we live, it can be difficult to see some of the brightest stars, so something like this is a treat. Even if it involves an hour or more of driving.

We made our way to the closest "mountain" range at around 10pm, parked the truck on the opposite side of the city, blew up our new truck bed mattress, and waited.

Every minute or so, we saw one. It happens so fast you almost miss it every time. But it is glorious. And fascinating. And beautiful.

This happens every August, and is worth every second.

We didn't catch any meteors on camera, but dean took some long exposures of the stars:

Sorry for the picture overload of basically the same thing, I just think these images are so cool! Especially the first two with something so recognizable ;)

P.S. it was really, really dark when these were taken, but it would have been awesome if we could get shots like this at dawn like it seems haha (That orange haze you see is from the city, not the sun!)

So this happened

A couple in my ward has a relative that makes cute beanies and scarves and they asked me to model some for them. You can check out the website here. As you can see, this modeling thing does not come naturally to me. Here are some more for you viewing pleasure. (These are the only good ones, the rest I am smiling like a fool)

They gave me a complimentary beanie, and I really wanted the orange one but they joked about it as we were shooting, so I just said surprise me. It's weird how I'm not as embarrassed to share these as I was to actually take the pictures.

Honeymoon Photos

Sometimes I wonder about people and their photos
Like when I'm stalking them
and I think, "Why do they have so many pictures?"

Then I remember that I too have pictures
Please remember that I make fun of people that do this, so I am also making fun of myself.
It's only fair.
I tried my hardest to cut these down to only the most important ones:

View from the lobby

View from balcony

have you ever seen such a beautiful night sky? we were amazed!

I only have these next two pictures to show you how weird we cross our legs. It's meant to be.

This next picture is proof that:
A. Bigfoot exists
B.Bigfoot is a fraud
You decide.
Us at the pcc
pretty sure my mom has a picture JUST like this one from her honeymoon in Hawaii:
I like this chair

Is it just me, or do I look like I'm related to Kate Middleton from behind?
I'll flatter myself for 2 seconds.
the sour face is from being sick, not trying to model, I promise
you have to have at least one of these pictures, or the whole trip doesn't count
Finally, I give you: Hawaii

Boy's Trip

I got suckered into a last minute trip to Utah with tales of boating on a lake and seeing people and places I love!

Once we got there, Dean informed me of several plans already made for me by the boys (we carpooled with 2 guy friends). This consisted of 1. shooting ALL day 2. only spending time with them (it was the driver's birthday weekend after all!! "30 is a big deal" they said)

So, although this trip did not turn out the way I thought it would (I apologize to 2 people in particular that I did not get to see but I really wanted to), it was still fun for the most part, and I refuse to go without a car next time. I really like to be in control.

Here are some highlights and photo evidence:
  • We got to stay with some really cool people, and their dog snacks is the cutest!
  • Dean on a scooter. Enough said.
  • 5K sucka
  • Kneaders & JDawgs (because all other good eats in utah have been franchised to southern  california)
  •  While taking the picture of dean below where he has some weird looking scraggly thing on him that's supposed to be used as camouflage, someone in cabellas said, "I can't see that guy over there, he only has legs and a face." Nerds. And that's exactly what Dean would say.

Sorry Tegyn if it appears as if I am copying you with the photo collage, its just the easiest way!
Mine is obviously more ghetto than yours.
I have included the notebook as a picture because I read this on the way home. Now I need to watch the movie again, and again, and again.
